The bodies of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers who were killed in a drone attack on a United Nations peacekeeping mission base in Sudan have arrived in Bangladesh.
The flight carrying the bodies landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 11:05am on Saturday (20 December).
Airport Executive Director S M Ragib Samad confirmed the information.
On 13 December, six members of the Bangladesh Army were killed and nine others injured in a drone attack on a UN peacekeeping mission base in the Abyei area of Sudan.
The six martyred peacekeepers are: Corporal Md Masud Rana, ASC (Natore); Soldier Md Mominul Islam, Bir (Kurigram); Shamim Reza, Bir (Rajbari); Shanta Mondal, Bir (Kurigram); Mess Waiter Mohammad Jahangir Alam (Kishoreganj); and Laundry Worker Md Sabuj Mia (Gaibandha).
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), those injured in the attack received the highest level of medical care as quickly as possible. They are currently undergoing treatment at Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, and all are now out of danger.
