Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that there has been major progress in the investigation into the murder of Inqilab Manch convener Osman Hadi.
“The chargesheet (indictment) for this murder will be submitted by January 7. Justice will be ensured by completing the trial of this murder case within the tenure of the current interim government,” he said.
He said this while talking to reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, “The investigation into the murder of Osman Hadi is now in its final stage. Since many secrets are being kept for the sake of the investigation, it is not possible to disclose detailed information right now.”
He said, “11 people have been arrested in the incident so far. Law enforcement agencies are working together to uncover who is behind the murder. The final chargesheet will be submitted to the court by January 7.”
Giving information about the ongoing joint operation to control the law and order situation across the country, Jahangir Alam said, “Huge success has been achieved under the ‘Operation Devilhunt Phase-2’ that started on December 17. A total of 9,993 people have been arrested through this operation since December 17. The forces are working in a coordinated manner. The Home Affairs Advisor stressed that no laxity will be shown in the trial of Osman Hadi’s murder. The government is fully committed to ensuring justice in this incident. All preparations have been made to complete the judicial process as soon as possible.”
