The government has decided to sell loose flour at Tk18 per kg in 891 centers of the country from October 1. Apart from this, packaged flour will be sold at Tk 20 per kg from a center in the capital.

Food Secretary Ismail Hossain said this while speaking to reporters at the secretariat on Monday.

He said, the statement made by TIB alleging purchase of wheat at a higher price than the international market price is completely false.

Rejecting the TIB’s statement on Sunday, the Food Secretary said that there was no corruption in buying wheat. Wheat has been purchased from Russia in a transparent process following all rules.

When asked about the price of rice, the Food Secretary said that to control the price of rice, instructions have been given to specify the purchase or sale price of rice at the Millar level in the country.

He said that the daily purchase and sale price should be mentioned on the website to show the correct information about the price of rice at the retail, wholesale, and Miller level.
