A total of 8,97,117 members of law enforcement agencies will perform their duties during the 13th National Parliamentary Election, Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.) said on Wednesday.
He disclosed the information while addressing the concluding parade and oath-taking ceremony of 104 batch of the new BGB recruits this morning here.
Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, also in charge of the Adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture, was speaking as the chief guest, at the ‘Bir Uttam Mujibur Rahman Parade Ground’ of the BGB training Institute- ‘Border Guard Training Center and College (BGTC&C)’ at Baitul Izzat of Satkania in Chattogram.
Referring to the upcoming general polls, the home adviser said about nine lakh security personnel will be engaged to successfully holding the elections.
“As many as 37,353 members of the BGB will be deployed at 61 districts across the country,” he added.
Addressing the newly recruited BGB soldiers, the home adviser said, “Discipline is the ornament of a soldier’s life…. A real soldier is one who never backs down from carrying out orders and duties.”
He called upon the new soldiers to remain vigilant in fulfilling the great responsibility of protecting the sovereignty and integrity of the country being imbued with the BGB’s four basic principles – – ‘morale, brotherhood, discipline and efficiency’, and fulfilling the duties assigned to the BGB in an orderly manner.
The adviser lauded the brilliant parade displayed by the BGB recruits and wished them continued success in every aspect of their respective careers.
