UNB, Dhaka:
Bangladesh women’s team footballers will receive their due salaries as soon as possible, said Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser of Bangladesh’s interim government, on Thursday.
The women’s team beat Nepal in the SAFF Championship final to claim the title on Wednesday. They arrived in Dhaka on Thursday and were given a grand reception on an open-top bus.
“The cabinet members congratulated the team,” Shafiqul said at a press conference at the Foreign Service Academy.
“We learnt that the footballers have not received their salaries for the last few months. It’s an issue from (Kazi) Salahuddin’s era. We will solve it soon. You will see an announcement,” he added.
Kazi Salahuddin was the former president of the Bangladesh Football Federation.
