Rape is considered a heinous crime in every country and society across the world. Different countries around the world have different laws on rape. These include the provision of imprisonment as well as the death penalty for rapists in many countries.

Though the death penalty for rapists is a must in many countries, the incident of rape is on the rise across the world.

According to analysts, the moral decay of human beings cannot be moderated by enforcing the law. By awakening the inner conscience and intellect of human beings, the number of rape cases can be decreased. However, effective enforcement of the law can greatly reduce this disorder.

The punishment for rape varies according to the laws of different countries. However, India, Russia, Iran, China, Greece, and other countries in Asia and Europe, give death punishment to the rapist. Meanwhile, in some developed countries of the world, including the United States and Norway, the maximum penalty for rape is 30 years in prison.

And the punishment for rape in Bangladesh is stated in Section 376 of the Penal Code 1860. Under this law, the maximum punishment for rape alone is life imprisonment. However, if the victim dies after the rape, then a death punishment is applied. There are provisions for fines as well.

Meanwhile, in neighboring India, the punishment for rape has been tightened in 2013. The country has a provision for the death penalty for rapists in special cases. In India, however, imprisonment is usually 7 to 14 years for rape cases.

Asia’s largest country, China gives a death punishment by firing bullet.

Rapists are usually hanged publicly or shot to death in public in Iran. In some cases, they also reward them with death through stoning in public.

The punishment for rape in Greece is quite different from other countries. If a person is convicted in any rape case in the country, he will be executed by burning in fire.

In Egypt, rapists get the death penalty by hanging as a reward for rape.

Compared to other countries in the world, North Korea has a lot of differences in rules and regulations. The maximum punishment for rape is death in North Korea as well. The rapist was taken to a firing squad and shot to death.

However, the South Asian country of Afghanistan has provisions for speedy trial of rape cases. The rapist was shot in the head within four days of the court’s verdict.

Rape punishment in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia also has severe penalties for rape if convicted. In the country, the punishment is carried out by beheading the rapist in public so that others can learn from it.

Like, Afghanistan, rapist trials are quickly carried out in the United Arab Emirates. The rapist was hanged within seven days of the verdict in the country.

In the Netherlands, rape is punishable by 4 to 15 years in prison. In the country, any kind of sexual harassment forced kissing without permission is also considered as such a crime. In Russia, rape is punishable by 3 to 30 years in prison.

However, the United States has two types of laws in place. One is state law and the other is federal law. Under federal law, the maximum sentence is life imprisonment. However, there are different punishments for rape in different states.

However, Law Minister Anisul Haque on Thursday said that a proposal on the death penalty for rapists would be placed before the next cabinet meeting.

The law was being amended to introduce the death penalty as the maximum punishment for rape, which will be placed before the next cabinet meeting, he added. (Source: Online)
