Inqilab Moncho has demanded immediate resignations of the home adviser, his special assistant, and the law adviser, holding them accountable for the killing of its convener Sharif Osman Hadi.
The platform said that the advisers must disclose the reasons for their failure to ensure security before stepping down.
Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, issued a press release on Monday afternoon outlining a three-point demand regarding the investigation and trial over Hadi’s death.
The organisation demanded that judicial proceedings be completed within a maximum of 30 working days through a speedy trial tribunal. It also urged the government to engage professional international intelligence agencies, such as the FBI or Scotland Yard, to ensure a transparent investigation.
Additionally, the platform demanded the identification, arrest, and trial of what it termed as “Awami terrorists” hiding within civil and military intelligence agencies.
Meanwhile, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul announced that the murder trial would be held at a speedy trial tribunal.
“According to Section 10 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act, 2002, the trial of this murder case will be completed within a maximum of 90 days after the police report is submitted,” he wrote on Facebook.
Inqilab Moncho also staged a protest procession in Dhaka this afternoon, reiterating its call for the immediate arrest of the killers.
The procession began at the Shahbagh intersection around 3:20pm and marched through the TSC area before ending at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Protesters chanted slogans such as “Slavery or Freedom? Freedom, Freedom”, “Delhi or Dhaka? Dhaka, Dhaka”, and “Who are you, who am I? Hadi, Hadi”.
Earlier in the day, Jaber held an emergency press conference outside the National Museum, where he threatened to launch a movement to topple the interim government if justice was not ensured.
“Justice must be ensured before the election; no election will take place before that,” he stressed.
He reiterated that Inqilab Moncho activists would not leave the streets until Hadi’s killers and their patrons were brought to justice.
