The Japanese embassy in Bangladesh, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, hosted a Japanese Film Festival on Saturday, showcasing the beauty of Japanese cinema and culture.

The event, held at the Embassy, was graced by the Cultural Affairs Adviser and renowned film director Mostofa Sarwar Farooki as the Chief Guest.

Japanese Ambassador IWAMA and his wife warmly welcomed the audience, which included university students, particularly those from the Department of Film and Media Studies, Japanese Studies, and Japanese Language. In his opening remarks, Ambassador WAMA shared his excitement, saying, “I’m hopeful that today’s event will spark new interest in Japan and encourage you all to further explore Japanese culture, language and films.”

The audience enjoyed two remarkable Japanese films –“The Lines That Define Me” and “The Baton Was Passed” at the event.

The films provided a glimpse into the depth of Japanese storytelling, highlighting themes of self-discovery, family, and human connection.

The aim of the festival is to promote Japanese culture and strengthen the cultural ties between Japan and Bangladesh. Ambassador IWAMA expressed his hope that students would be inspired to learn more about Japan through its films, fostering deeper mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.
