Staff Correspondent: Offices of Government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions will operate on a new schedule from today. As per this schedule, the office will start at 9 am and end at 4 pm.

The new schedule for winter was approved at a meeting of the Cabinet Division on October 31. Before the approval of this schedule, government offices were open from 9 am to 5 pm and banks and financial institutions were open from 10 am to 4 pm.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said yesterday that due to the upcoming winter, the schedule for offices of all Government, semi-government, autonomous and semi-autonomous institutions in the country will continue from 9 am to 4 pm until further instructions.

He added that the relevant authorities will decide on the schedule of courts, banks and financial institutions and educational institutions. Apart from this, the timetable of schools and colleges will be decided by the Ministry of Education.

Earlier, from August 23, changes were made to the conventional office schedule to save electricity. At that time, new timings were made from 8 am to 3 pm.
