Khushi Kapoor, set to debut on the big screen with Loveyapa, stated that being called ‘plastic’ is not an insult. She emphasised the importance of honesty to avoid setting unrealistic beauty standards for the youth.

IN SHORT

  • Khushi Kapoor said that openly talking about her cosmetic enhancements is not a big deal
  • She criticised setting unrealistic beauty standards by pretending to be naturally flawless
  • Kapoor also added that the term ‘plastic’ is not an insult

Actor Khushi Kapoor has shared that the term ‘plastic’ is not an insult, as people might think it to be. Kapoor, who is set to make her big screen debut with Loveyapa, spoke about why she admitted to getting cosmetic surgery and said that it is not a ‘big deal’ to be cosmetically enhanced. However, she pointed out that not admitting to it would set unrealistic beauty standards, which is not fair to young boys and girls.

In an interview with Curly Tales, Khushi Kapoor was asked why she admitted to getting lip fillers and nose job done. Kapoor responded, “I don’t think it’s such a big deal. I think people feel that they’ll get hate if they come out and admit it (getting cosmetically enhanced), but there’s going to be hate anyway.”

She added, “This term plastic… people think it’s the biggest insult you can give someone. But, I don’t think it’s bad if someone gets work done. I think the issue is when people enhance themselves cosmetically and say that ‘I woke up like this, I’m completely natural’. Then you are setting up an unrealistic standard of beauty. It’s unfair for younger boys and girls who look up to you. You might just want to be honest, because people are not going to like you some way or the other.”

The video of the interview is now going viral, with the internet noting how sharply her remarks vary from that of her cousin, Sonam Kapoor, who made a comment about plastics remaining in actors’ graves in an episode of Koffee With Karan. Here are some of the reactions.

It was back in August 2024 when Khushi Kapoor admitted to getting lip fillers and a nose job done by responding to a random comment on some Instagram post. She was lauded for being upfront.

On the work front, Kapoor will next be seen in Loveyapa alongside Junaid Khan. The film, which is a remake of Love Today, will be releasing in theatres on February 7.
