Director Sukumar’s action drama “Pushpa 2” has emerged as a landmark blockbuster, with its extraordinary performance at the box office continuing unabated. The film, starring Allu Arjun in the lead, has raked in an impressive Rs529.45 crore net in India in just four days, with its worldwide collection crossing the Rs800 crore mark.
According to film industry tracker Sacnilk, “Pushpa 2” raked in Rs141.50 crore net in India on Sunday, taking its four-day business to a whopping Rs529.45 crore net. Mythri Movie Makers, the banner under which the film is made, had earlier announced that it had grossed Rs621 crore worldwide in three days. Released on 5 December in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam languages, “Pushpa 2” has been making waves at the box office. The film’s Hindi collection has overtaken its Telugu collection, a remarkable achievement. The film’s four-day total in Hindi stands at Rs285.7 crore and in Telugu it is Rs198.55 crore (net).
The film’s opening day (Thursday, 5 December) collection was a staggering Rs164.25 crore net, followed by Rs93.8 crore net on the second day (a working Friday). However, it bounced back strongly on the third day (Saturday), adding Rs119.25 crore to its kitty. On Sunday, day four, Pushpa 2 earned Rs141.5 crore net. Its total net collection stands at Rs529.45 crore.
“Pushpa 2” has also been performing exceptionally well in terms of occupancy. On Sunday, the film had an overall 73.50% Telugu occupancy, with Hyderabad recording an impressive 79.50% occupancy for 1024 shows. Bengaluru and Chennai also witnessed high occupancy rates, with 67.50% and 65.75% respectively.
In Hindi, “Pushpa 2” had an overall 84.25% occupancy on Sunday, with Mumbai recording an impressive 88.00% occupancy for 1518 shows. Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) also witnessed high occupancy rates, with 78.25% for 1762 shows.
The first four days of box office collections have seen “Pushpa 2” emerge as the clear leader on the all-time rankings.
Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” follows closely with Rs286.16 crore, while Ranbir Kapoor’s “Animal” collected Rs241.43 crore in four days. Other notable films include SRK’s “Pathaan”, with Rs220 crore; Salman Khan’s “Tiger 3” with Rs169.5 crore; and Yash’s “KGF 2” with Rs352.5 crore.
